Assessing Student Learning by Design, 2021

The authors present an assessment framework that encourages educators to use assessment as a way to inform teaching and learning, rather than simply to assign grades.  The framework is built on the book Understanding by Design by Grant Wiggins and Jay McTighe.  Different purposes for and methods of assessment are explored.  The book also addresses the assessment of academic standards as well as transdisciplinary outcomes, embedded in the principles and practices underlying standards-based grading.
