The Medici Effect: What Elephants & Epidemics Can Teach Us About Innovation, 2017

The author shows how breakthrough ideas most often occur when we bring concepts from one field into a new, unfamiliar territory. Referred to as the Intersection, innovation is said to occur when ideas cross disciplinary lines.  The challenge lies in breaking down the barriers between fields.  One way to begin to do so is for PK-12 to intentionally focus on interdisciplinary projects with the goal of transferring knowledge and skills across disciplinary lines.
