The authors lead an inquiry into 16 common educational practices that can undermine student learning, such as round robin reading, teaching to learning styles, homework as the default, etc.  Research-informed accounts of each of these practices is presented, along with alternative strategies that meet the goals these problematic practices are intended to achieve.
