Stop the Pounding Pain in Your Feet!

Teachers play a very vital role in today’s world. Without teachers there won't be people going to the moon, diving deep down into the ocean, climbing mountains, trekking into deep forests, entertaining us in the theaters, informing the world about the weather, news, and so on. Teachers stand for hours training little hands and hearts and turning them into the most powerful citizens ever.

During this process the world is unaware of the teachers’ throbbing, pounding, and piercing pain in their feet or the shooting pain in their heel.  We tend to forget that these painful feet area very beautiful piece of God’s Creation. Each foot has

•33 joints

•26 bones

•19 muscles

•More than 100 ligaments

•More than 100 tendons

•Approximately 7000 nerve endings

These feet carry a load of weight on them and transmit the body weight to the ground, and of course help us in maintaining equilibrium.  So, what can be the cause of foot pain? Well, this can be caused by many reasons and one of the problems is diagnosed as plantar fasciitis.   What is this Plantar Fasciitis? We all have a plantar fascia and it’s a band of connective tissue connecting the heel bone and the base of the toes.

Now the function of this plantar fasciitis is to stop the arch of your foot from flattening while you're standing or walking. But prolonged standing can lead to the strain and inflammation on the heel.  So now what should we do about it?  Don’t worry! With the latest technology we have a slimmer material that can fit into our shoes and support our heel.  If you don’t want to use this artificial support, there are other options.

•Having the right type of shoes. Have at least 2 comfortable pairs of work shoes and rotate them. Try checking out more comfortable ones, because shoes may look new and good but due to age, weight, and how much exercise we do the foot can change size and shape. Remember BAD SHOE = BAD FEET.

•Check your weight- I hate this one but it's true, so lose weight if necessary.

•Exercise your feet as you exercise the rest of your muscles.

•Use warm water and Epsom salt to soak your feet for at least 20 minutes to half an hour. The

salt draws out excess fluids, lactic acid, and waste products that can be causing pain.

•Go get a pedicure or you can pamper your feet at home with a soak and massage. This can prevent nail disease as well as eliminate foot odor.

We know that our feet are very precious. We can't walk around our class and get to our students’ desks if our feet hurt. So, let's keep our feet healthy.  Pamper them a little now and then and complete the work that God has rendered us to do. God Bless.

Have a wonderful week ahead.
