Leaving to Learn: How Out-of-school Learning Increases Student Engagement and Reduces Dropout Rates, 2013

The authors, of Big Picture Learning, address the issue of student disengagement from learning.  The solution they propose is “leaving to learn,” in which students leave the school building to pursue learning opportunities in real-world settings that are blended with their in-school learning.  Evidence indicates that motivation, engagement, and creativity soar as a result.
